The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reports that a local homeless man, 48-year-old Mark Geri, has been arrested after he stole copper from a local business.
On October 27, 2026, members of the STPSO's Criminal Patrol Division responded a business in the 21000 block of Marion Lane near Mandeville in reference to a burglary. Someone had entered several storage buildings at the business and removed 240 copper plates and more than 240 feet of copper wire. The stolen items had been sold at a scrapyard in Tangipahoa Parish for approximately $2,000.
Working together with detectives with the STPSO Property Crimes Division, deputies identified the suspect as Mark Geri and a warrant was obtained for his arrest on October 30, 2026.
Deputies located Geri in a Mandeville-area parking lot that same day and he was taken into custody. He was in possession of several pieces of the stolen property. Geri was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for three counts of Simple Burglary.
