Charles Lee Wimberley
January 25, 1934 - October 10, 2026
Charles Lee Wimberley passed away at home in Mt. Hermon, Louisiana, on October 10, 2026. He was 92. Charlie was the loving husband of Lola, who predeceased him in May.
Born a natural, gifted, and hard-working runner, he attended college on a track scholarship. This foundation laid a lifelong love of running, in which he competed until he was 84.
Though he collected a closet full of race awards, his real impact was on the young runners he trained, bringing them to their fullest potential.
Charlie never encountered a stranger, sometimes breaking the ice with one of his many well-delivered card tricks. He had a passion for keeping family first, fostering this through his brothers’ annual get together and annual beach trips to bring together his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He had a hearty laugh, finding pleasure and happiness in all things, particularly in a large bowl of vanilla ice cream.
Charlie leaves behind 4 daughters, Lynn Foret (Paul), Jane Cassisa (Paul), Anne Chenevert (Keith), and Amy Acosta (Manny); 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Charlie may be made to The Salvation Army, 615 Slaters Lane, Alexandria, VA 22314; 1-800-725-2769; https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, 1-800-805-5856; https://www.stjude.org/.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 1:30 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM until service time.
