Ezzard Charles Lee

October 8, 1954 — October 2, 2026

Ezzard Charles Lee, son of the late Elder Bennie and Oda Mae Lee was born October 8, 1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He departed this life on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Charles was a fun-loving man who enjoyed his family and friends. Charles was educated in the Washington Parish School System (Mt. Hermon High School 1974). He worked at Avondale Shipyard for over twenty years as a Welder on the Westbank. He accepted Christ at an early age under his father Elder Bennie Lee at New Salem Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Marrero, Louisiana. He later re-dedicated his life to Christ at Sweet Home Church of Christ (Holiness) USA under the leadership of the late Elder Washington Drake and currently served under the leadership of Elder Kevin Golden until his death. Charles worked tirelessly at Sweet Home Church as a dedicated member of the Brotherhood and is currently the President of the Brotherhood for the Southwestern Diocese and President of the Trustee Board at Sweet Home Church.

He leaves to remember his precious memories his wife of 15 years Linda Lewis Lee; his bonus children, Wayne Lewis, Jr., Yeariska Lewis, D’Lisa Washington, Twila Deer, and Raina Deer; six siblings, Lorraine Martin, Martha Lee-Vaughn, Clinton Lee, Cassandra Dangerfield, Carolyn Patterson, and Elder Jarvis Lee; his bonus brother, Alfred Davis; Charles is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elder Bennie and Sis. Oda Mae Lee; his sister, Evangelist Fillis Barnes; and his niece, Lisa Lee Cox.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 11:00AM - 1:00PM at Sweet Home Church of Christ (Holiness) 2200 Greenlaw Ave. Franklinton, Louisiana 70438, followed by funeral service at 1:00PM. The interment will be held at Sweet Home Cemetery Franklinton, La. 70438.
