Obituary

Emily Elizabeth Young Moses

August 23, 1920 — October 13, 2026

Emily Elizabeth Young Moses was born on August 23, 1920 to the late Mr. Sam Young, Sr and Mrs. Clara Elizabeth (Jefferson) Young. She was married to the late Mr. A.C. Moses and to this union 6 children were born: Cynthia Moses, Cloteal (Andrew) Jackson, Arnetta Clanton (deceased), Carlton (Josephine) Moses, Clarnetta Harry (deceased), Annie Pearl (Wiley/deceased) Pernell and a special son-in-law (Henry Clanton). Ms. Emily / Mama was a grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, as well as a great, great, great grandmother. Her only living sibling is her youngest sister, Lorretta Thomas. Mama Em’s other siblings preceded her in death (Amy, Joe, Carrie, Bill and Sam, Jr.).

Emily’s life was rooted in Love for God & people, she was steadfast in her Faith in Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior and she was confident in her Hope of entering into eternal rest. Doing her 106 years of life she dedicated her life to serving others with care and compassion. Whether she was taking care of her younger siblings (while her parents worked their farm) or caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, patients (on her job @ Rest Haven) or her parents, she did it with care and compassion.

Sister Emily had the heart of a servant whenever she cooked. Cooking was a ministry to her and we were blessed to be the recipients of it. Her daily attire included a hair net and an apron that she wore daily. Daily meals would put most restaurants to shame and holiday meals were something that her family looked forward to.

If you ever had the pleasure of dining with Sister Emily you know what we’re talking about. Her recipes are written on the hearts of our family. We memorized most of the answers she gave to us about how to cook this, that or the other and wrote down what we thought we might forget.

Mama gave her family and others unconditional love 24/7…365 days of every year. We Thank God and give Him the Praise for the Life and Legacy of our Mother/Grandmother, Emily Elizabeth (Young) Moses, Amen!
