Public Advisory From The DEA

The DEA New Orleans Field Division is issuing an urgent warning to residents across St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington Parishes following a recent spike in fatal overdoses.

The Alert: DEA Special Agents have identified Nitazenes in our local drug supply.

The Threat: Nitazenes are unregulated synthetic opioids that are stronger than fentanyl, completely undetectable to the user, and hidden in street drugs, counterfeit pills, and powders.

Public Safety Guidance: How to protect yourself and your loved ones—including key steps on carrying Naloxone and calling 911 immediately in a suspected drug emergency.

One pill, or one try, can kill. Never take a pill that wasn’t prescribed directly to you and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy.

Visit DEA.gov/onepill and DEA.gov/fentanylfree for more information.
