David Glenn McClendon

May 7, 1954 - September 15, 2026

Glenn, a fiercely independent man, who was kind, loyal, and grounded in dedication, passed away at his home on September 15th, 2026 at the age of 72. 

Glenn was born in Bogalusa and raised in Varnado, La. He was a 1972 graduate of Varnado High School. After school he had a couple of careers, first owning a service station and then being a tug boat captain before finally dedicating his life to public service, with a career in law enforcement, which spanned 5 decades. His law enforcement journey started with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office in 1976, then moving on to the Bogalusa Police Department in 1982. After serving as a detective for many years he ultimately worked his way up to the rank of Captain prior to retiring in 2008. He then went back to work at the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office as a detective for 7 years, before finally working as an Investigator for the District Attorney's office for the last 11 years of his life. Beyond his love of law enforcement, Glenn was a talented man with many hobbies throughout his life; he played guitar, dabbled in photography, and had lifelong love affair with motorcycles, Volkswagens, and hot rods. 

Glenn leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Mary McClendon, two nephews, Matt Parker (Erika), and Trey Galloway, a brother-in-law, Jerry Galloway, an uncle Ernest McClendon, two four-legged children, Sassy and Armidie, several great nieces and nephews, many cousins, and quite a few colleagues that he considered his brothers and sisters. 

Glenn was preceded in death by his father and mother, David O. and Juanita K. McClendon, and his sister, Denyse M. Galloway. 

A memorial service will be held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Saturday, September 26th, 2026 beginning at 1:00 P.M. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 10:00 A.M until the service begins.
