The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) announced today (September 24, 2026) the arrest of 28-year-old Jericho Offlee, a Hammond man accused of luring a woman through an online sales scheme in order to rob her. Offlee has been booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on one count of 1st Degree Robbery.
On Tuesday (September 22, 2026), woman from the Baton Rouge area reported connecting with a man through a social media platform to buy a used vehicle. The woman reported picking the man up at a Hammond address before he directed her to Dead End Road in Hammond. There, he tried to steal her car and several other belongings, but she was able to get away.
At the time, his identity was not known, but he was described as a black male wearing a reflective vest, a beanie cap and having two gold canine teeth. Following quick investigative work, surveillance pictures of the suspect were obtained and he was identified as Offlee with assistance from the Hammond Police Department. Offlee was then located by TPSO Street Crimes and SWAT units and taken into custody.

Investigators have information indicating this is not Offlee’s only victim, but are concerned additional reports have not been made, or full cooperation has not been provided, due to fear of Offlee’s retaliation or legal consequences regarding the initial source of contact with Offlee. The TPSO is encouraging anyone, especially women from the Baton Rouge area, who experienced a similar encounter in the past few weeks to contact our Criminal Investigations Division to file an official report.
