Althea Lucy Y'Bos Buras

Althea Lucy Y'Bos Buras, age 83 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Wednesday afternoon August 5, 2026 at her home after a lengthy illness. Althea was born on February 17, 1943 in New Orleans where she lived most of her life, following the destruction of Hurricane Katrina she moved to Washington Parish. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Franklinton. She and her husband were amateur radio operators, helping with civil defense and other things. Althea enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
Survived by: Daughters: Charlene Buras, Cyndi Buras, Cheryl Pixley; 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great GrandchildrenSister and Brother-in-law: Penny Williams and Earl Williams, Sr.; Also numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip A. Buras, Jr., parents Richard Y’Bos and Zwelda Ackerhans Y’Bos, son-in-law John Scordill and other family members.
A memorial service for her family will be planned in the near future.
