Kendrick O'Neal Rodgers

October 25, 1981 — August 20, 2026

Kendrick O’Neal Rodgers was born on October 25, 1981, to the late Paul L. Rodgers Jr. and Betty W. Rodgers. 

At an early age, Kendrick accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at James Chapel Church of God in Christ. He later continued his Christian journey under watch care at Living Faith Christian Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 

Kendrick was a proud 1999 graduate of Mount Hermon High School. He continued his education at Southern University and A&M College, graduating in 2003. He carried great pride in being a Southern University Jaguar, and the education, friendships, and experiences he gained there remained an important part of his life. 

Kendrick dedicated more than 18 years of service to the State of Louisiana Department of Public Safety. He began his career in an entry-level accounting position and steadily advanced through the years through hard work, dedication, and professionalism. Most recently, Kendrick was promoted to Financial Services Director, a significant professional accomplishment and a testament to his years of committed public service. 

Kendrick was preceded in death by his father, Paul L. Rodgers Jr.; maternal grandparents, David Williams and Girtha Williams; paternal grandparents, Paul Rodgers, Sr. and Margarite Rodgers; brother-in-law, Jerry Baker, Sr.; and nephews, Donnavan Jenkins and Tremale Jenkins. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Betty W. Rodgers; his siblings, Joyce Baker of Mt. Hermon, Louisiana; Paul Williams (Annie) of Independence, Louisiana; Girtha Adams of Westminster, South Carolina; David Rodgers (Tish) of Franklinton, Louisiana; Vickie Ladner (Jimmy) of Clarksville, Tennessee; Priscilla Walls (Daferlin Jr.) of Clarksville, Tennessee; and Heather Walls (Tyrone) of Clarksville, Tennessee. Kendrick also leaves to cherish his memory his dear friends, Keosha Martin-James and Gydaryle Martin, whose friendship, love, and unwavering presence meant so much to him. They remained faithfully by his side until the very end. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, classmates, coworkers, friends, and loved ones. 

Kendrick’s life was marked by faith, family, education, service, and achievement. From his roots in Mt. Hermon, to his years at Southern University, to a distinguished career serving the State of Louisiana, Kendrick built a life that reflected perseverance, dedication, and purpose. 

Though his earthly journey has ended, the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy he created will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, coworkers, classmates, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 9:00AM - 11:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Plainview Church of Christ Holiness USA 24649 Vernon School Rd Mt. Hermon, LA 70450 with Elder Jarvis Lee - Officiating, Elder Albert Brumfield - Pastor. Interment will be held at the Plainview Church Cemetery.
