Lawrence "Larry" Harold McIntyre, Jr.

March 19, 1948 - August 7, 2026

Lawrence “Larry” Harold McIntyre, Jr. was born March 19th, 1948, in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Effie and Lawrence McIntyre Sr. He passed away on Friday, August 7th at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville Kentucky at the age of 78 after what many may call a life well lived.

Larry is survived by brothers Kenneth “Kenny” and Patrick “Pat”. He also leaves behind a daughter Stacy McIntyre Bradford, a son-in-law Raymond Bradford, and 4 step-children: Rick Ruiz JR, Melody Ruiz Ognan, Mikkol Ruiz, and Michael Ruiz. He is survived by his grandchildren, who known him as “Papa”, Morgan, Mayson, and Lake, as well as his step-grandchildren: Roman, Alex, and Ayiana. He also leaves behind a step-great-grandchild Lyric. Quite near to his heart are also his wonderful pets: Prince, a pit bull terrier, and Princess, a cat.

He is preceded in death by both his mother and father, wife Judy Baca McIntyre, his sister Dorothy “Dottie” McIntyre Miller, and his son, Lawrence “Bubba” Harold McIntyre III. He goes to join them now in Jesus’s embrace, where we may all hope to find each other again one day.

Larry lived a full life, loved by all who knew him for his kind heart and sense of humor. In his last days, he often told jokes to any who would listen. Throughout his life, he was well traveled, going to many countries and multiple continents. He spoke often of his time in Egypt as well as South America. He enjoyed eating new foods and trying new experiences, but did not underestimate the power of a cat nap with TV playing in the background.

To say he will be missed would be to speak the truth, though not the entirety of it. He leaves behind a hole in our hearts, which will always be missing a perfect “Papa” shaped piece.

There are many fine men in the world, and now we are one lesser of them.

A visitation will be held at Pearson’s Funeral Home in Louisville, KY on Thursday, August 13th at 4-6 PM with prayer service to follow. He will be cremated and interred in the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery Central in Fort Knox at a later date.
