Obituary

Herbert Lee Penton 

July 24, 1959 – August 20, 2026

Herbert Lee Penton, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at the age of 67.

Herbert leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and whose lives were forever touched by his presence. He is survived by his son, Joseph Penton, and stepson, Billy Gay; stepdaughters, Courtney Miley and Felicia Dixon; and his special granddaughter, Callie Helton, “Annabelle.” And special Grandson Enzo Cangelosi. He is also survived by his brother, Hubert “Goat” Penton and Joi; sisters, Maggie McMahon and Mac, and Mable Dyson; and his special aunt and uncle, Nellie Gipson and Billy Gipson. He leaves behind numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Herbert will be remembered for the love he shared with his family, the memories he created with those around him, and the special place he held in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Penton; companion, Susan Magee; sister, Alma White; his parents, Willis and Gladys Penton and his Stepdaughter Diane Loupe.

Pallbearers will be Danny Munizza, Corey McDaniel, Dewayne Penton, Brian Miley, Floyd Miley, and Triston Castille.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 25, 2026, from 11:00am until 3:00pm at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00pm and interment will follow in Pounds Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mac McMahon, Wesley Cook, Ray Hawk, and Wendell Cook.

Though Herbert is no longer with us, his memory will live on through the family and friends who loved him. May he rest peacefully, knowing he was loved, he will be missed, and he will never be forgotten.
