Doris Jean Summers, born November 27, 1938, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 17, 2026. A beloved presence in the lives of all who knew her, Doris’s life was marked by dedication to family, resilience, and a profound sense of caring.
Doris was the cherished daughter of the late Elic and Blanche Pogue. Throughout her years, she embodied their lessons of kindness and diligence, values she carried with grace in every aspect of her life. Doris married AJ Summers, who preceded her in death, and together they built a family founded on love, mutual respect, and unwavering support.
She is survived by her devoted children: daughter Debbie Summers; sons John Summers and daughter-in-law, Kippy Summers and David Summers. Doris also leaves behind a loving legacy through her 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren who carry forward her warmth and guidance. Her late son, Michael Summers, remains ever-present in the hearts of those who knew the family.
Doris’s life was filled with meaningful connections and an enduring commitment to her loved ones. Though her time on earth has come to a close, the imprint she leaves on her family, friends, and community is indelible.
A funeral service to honor Doris Jean Summers will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Alabama Ave., Bogalusa, LA 70427, on August 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Rev. Field Thigpen will officiate and interment will be held in Ponemah Cemetery.
Doris’s memory will live on through the many lives she touched across the years, a testament to a life lived with dignity, compassion, and enduring love.
