Obituary

Gerald Lee Pigott

October 14, 1952 — August 3, 2026

Gerald Lee Pigott, born on October 14, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his residence in Metairie, Louisiana, on August 3, 2026. Gerald’s life was one of quiet strength, heartfelt devotion to family, creativity, and service.

The cherished son of Josefine Pigott and the late John Pigott, Gerald’s upbringing in New Orleans was surrounded by the warmth of family and the spirited culture of his hometown. Throughout his life, Gerald remained close to his siblings: his devoted sisters Sherion Nettles, Patricia Eads, and Lorrain Pigott, as well as his brother Johnny Pigott, all of whom survive him and were constant sources of support and love. He is also remembered by those who preceded him in death—his sister Frances Pigott, his brother Lawrence Pigott, and his niece Lila Pigott.

A proud veteran, Gerald served with honor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, embodying steadfastness, courage, and the spirit of duty. After his military service, he devoted many years to working in a hardware store in Metairie, Louisiana, where his dedication and reliability left an enduring impression on colleagues and patrons alike.

Gerald possessed an artistic soul. He found joy and expression through his art and poetry, sharing pieces of himself in every sketch and verse. His creative pursuits were a testament to the depth and sensitivity with which he approached the world.

Above all, Gerald will be remembered as a loving brother who cared deeply for his family, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Those close to him recall his gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

A graveside service honoring Gerald Lee Pigott’s life was held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Ponemah Cemetery, located on Louisiana Avenue in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

As we gather to remember Gerald, we celebrate a life defined by kindness, service, and artistry, and we hold his memory in our hearts with gratitude and respect.
