Ester Susan "Sue" Gallington 

December 8, 1954 — August 24, 2026

Ester Susan Gallington, known affectionately as Sue, was born on December 8, 1954, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. On August 24, 2026, at the age of 71, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Sue devoted her life to being a homemaker, pouring her heart into creating a warm and welcoming environment for those she loved. She took immense joy in maintaining her home, undertaking each task with care and precision. Her passion for cleanliness was matched only by her adventurous spirit; she cherished traveling on motorcycles with her beloved husband, Ronnie "Wayne" Gallington.

Sue's life was a testament to her unwavering loyalty and love for her family. Described by many as caring, honest, and a great mom and grandmother, she made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her hard-headed and stubborn nature was evidence of her tenacity and fighting spirit. Above all, Sue loved her family fiercely, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Her favorite saying, "I don't know," always delivered with a knowing smile, captured her humble yet wise demeanor. Even in moments of uncertainty, she imparted wisdom and warmth.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Doyle Buckley and Anna May, her sister Carolyn, brothers Herbert, David, Perry Wayne, and her granddaughters Jana and Angelic.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her husband, Ronnie Gallington "Wayne"; her sons, Jeff Coyne and wife Traci Coyne, Carlos Gonzalez and wife Lynn Gonzalez, Jacob Gallington and wife Casey Gallington, Steven Gallington and wife Ashley Gallington, Timmy Gallington and wife Monera Gallington; her daughters, Susan Gonzalez and husband Phil Gates, Angie Westmoreland and husband Brian Westmoreland; her brother Norman Kennedy and wife Krista Kennedy; her grandchildren Tammy Gibson, Harley Thompson, Timothy Gonzalez, Michael Gonzalez, Bradley Howard, Corrina Howard, Larry Wolf, Brandon Coyne, Winter Kirkpatrick, Victoria Kirkpatrick, Peyton Coyne, Angellic Kirkpatrick, Jana Howard, Dustin Gallington, Austin Gallington, Nicholas Gallington, Justin Gallington, Andrew Kirkpatrick, Patricia Horton, Tyler Gallington, Matthew Horton, Kolby Gallington, Haley Gallington, River Gallington, Cordelia Gallington, Emily Gallington, Ellie Gallington, Evan Gallington and several great-grandchildren.

The family will celebrate the life of Sue on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby, NC at 5:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather an hour before the service to pay their respects and share cherished memories of this remarkable woman.

Sue's enduring spirit and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion and boundless love.
