Garland Spears

April 15, 1966 - June 29, 2026

Garland Spears, age 60 and a resident of Bogalusa, passed away peacefully at St Tammany Hospital in Covington on June 29, 2026. He was born on April 15, 1966 to the late Leslie Spears, Jr. and Cynthia Dillon Spears.

Garland enjoyed many things in life, but his love for his wife, kids, and grandkids were unmistakable, they were his world. He was a man who enjoyed outdoors, especially being on the riverbank by his houseboat, spending time with his family and friends. He was truly a great man who would not hesitate to help anyone who needed him. In his last few years, you could find him at M&M Gravel on that loader he operated for his good friend, Mark Seal.

Garland is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Judy Jones Spears of Bogalusa, sons and daughters-in-law, Lance Jones and Autumn Dykes of Bogalusa, Cody and Susan Spears of Pine, LA, Josh Spears and Harlie Jordan of Stateline, LA. Also special, Brianna Hartzog, Robyn Hines, and Breanna Murphy. Special Uncle, Michael Dillon. Stepmother, Cindy Gaither Spears, sisters and brothers-in-law, Tyrie and Billy Joe Rogers and Stephanie and Jason Phillips, brothers, Gary Spears, Brandon Spears, and Chris Spears and his wife Emily, brothers-in-law, Jimmy Jones and Kenny Jones. Grandchildren, Danica Jones, Jalen Knight, Jayce Jones, Raylinn Hines, Aubree Spears, Rylie Smith, Miley Spears, Bryce Smith, Kindyll LaBorde, Adalyn Spears, Carson Spears, Leslie Spears, and Mason Hunt. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Spears, Jr and Cynthia Dillon Spears, his in-laws, Jim Jones and Patricia Husser, brother-in-law, John Jones, sisters-in-law, Beth Jones and Stacy Jones.

Funeral services celebrating Garlands life will  be held on Friday, July 3rd at 2:00 PM at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Rev. Colton Busby. Internment will take place at Thomas Cemetery in the Thomas Community.
