Obituary

Juan Blades Potts

Nov 15, 1944 — Jul 15, 2026

Juan Blades Potts, a resident of Kentwood, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the age of 81. She was born November 15, 1944, in Magnolia, Mississippi, to Charlie and Ruby Cutrer Blades.

Juan grew up in the Spring Creek Community and graduated from Spring Creek High. She was known as an excellent athlete and carried her love for sports into adulthood, always ready for a good ballgame. She married her high school sweetheart, W.A. Potts, and built a life with him and their three children in the East Fork Community of Kentwood for 57 years. She was a member of East Fork Baptist Church.

She worked alongside her husband in the dairy business and trucking business (Potts Trucking) while maintaining the household. She also worked at Spring Creek Milling for a time after her children were raised. She enjoyed the fellowship with customers and fellow employees.

She had a knack for decorating for all holidays; this was something she enjoyed doing along with cooking and especially making candy, something she passed along to the younger ladies in her family. She took pride in loving and raising her children. Her grandchildren were a constant in her home, and this gave her joy.

She is survived by her children: William Todd Potts (Cathy), Randall Kirk Potts (Renea), and Darla Potts Bridges (Khris); grandchildren: William Russton Potts (Julia), Amy Lynn Potts Brown (Cody), Chelsey Brooke Pellegrin (Garrin), Lana Michelle Ernest (Melanie), Haley Potts, and Dalton Blake Bridges; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Blades Givens; brothers, Louis “Frog” Blades and Rex Blades (Mary).

Preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Blades; husband, William Albert “W.A.” Potts; granddaughter, Brandy Potts; great-grandson, Holland Pellegrin; twin sister, Janice Fay Blades; sister, Bernadette Blades Oliver; and brother, Charlie “Sonny” Blades.

Pallbearers are William Russton Potts, Scotty Oliver, Cody Brown, Dalton Bridges, Terry Oliver, and Eugene Tackett.

Visitation will take place at East Fork Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Services will be conducted by Bro. Jay Avance. Burial will take place at East Fork Cemetery, Kentwood, LA.

The family would like to thank Aston Court of McComb, MS, and Compassus Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care.
