Mack Williams

January 12, 1971 - July 17, 2026

Mack Williams, a devoted man of faith, beloved son, brother, uncle, soulmate, relative, colleague, and friend, entered his eternal home on July 17, 2026 at the age of 55.

A faithful believer, Mack allowed the light of Christ to shine brightly through his life. His faith shaped the way he loved his family, served others, and brought joy into every room he entered. Although his earthly presence will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now resting in the presence of the Lord whom he loved and faithfully served.

A native of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Mack graduated salutatorian of his high school class in 1989. He then attended LSU Baton Rouge and graduated with his BS in Dietetics. He completed a dietetic internship in Augusta, Georgia and went on to complete the requirements to become a Registered Dietician in Augusta, Georgia. Mack then dedicated more than 30 years of service to the state of Louisiana, retiring at the end of his career as the Director of the Food Distribution Division, Office of Animal Health and Food Safety for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.

Mack earned an outstanding reputation through his work in school nutrition, food distribution, and programs administered in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture. His expertise, dependability, and dedication helped establish significant professional partnerships and an extensive network throughout Louisiana and beyond.

However, Mack’s professional legacy extended far beyond programs, policies, and partnerships. He possessed a rare and genuine ability to connect with people. What often began as a professional relationship quickly became a sincere and lasting friendship. Mack made others feel valued, heard, and appreciated, capturing their hearts through his warmth, authenticity, humor, and kindness. Many of the colleagues and partners he met throughout his career became lifelong friends who will forever cherish the relationship they shared with him.

His years of public service reflected his strong work ethic, giving heart, and genuine desire to help others. Mack was extraordinarily generous with his time, talents, knowledge, and resources. He gave freely and often without recognition, always willing to lend a helping hand, prepare a meal, offer encouragement, share his expertise, or provide support to someone in need. His kindness was not something he merely spoke about; it was demonstrated through the way he lived and cared for others.

Outside of his professional life, Mack was an avid SEC /LSU college football fan who enjoyed the excitement, competition, and fellowship surrounding the game. He was also a phenomenal cook whose meals brought family and friends together. And, wherever Mack was became a place of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments as he was the center of entertainment and all wanted just to be near him.

Perhaps one of Mack’s greatest gifts was his ability to tell a story. A gifted storyteller, he captivated those around him with humorous accounts and colorful stories drawn from his real-life experiences. Many of those experiences involved what he affectionately called “Mack Luck”—a seemingly endless series of unfortunate, unexpected, and often unbelievable events in which things simply never went quite as planned.

Whether it was a minor mishap, a travel adventure, a unique shopping experience, or another situation that could only happen to Mack, he had a remarkable ability to turn frustration into laughter. Rather than allowing those moments to discourage him, Mack transformed them into stories that entertained everyone around him. His delivery, expressions, and attention to detail made each account more memorable than the last.

Even during life’s difficulties, Mack found humor and gave others a reason to smile. The stories of “Mack Luck” will undoubtedly continue to be shared, allowing his voice, laughter, humor, and remarkable spirit to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Above all, Mack loved his family deeply. He was a source of encouragement, warmth, wisdom, generosity, and laughter. As a cherished baby brother, he held a special place within his family—one that can never be replaced. His life was a beautiful reflection of faith, service, kindness, generosity, resilience, and joy.

Mack leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Michelle Eckert and her husband, John, of White Hall, Arkansas; Rubby Douglas and her husband, Billy, of Walker, Louisiana; and Frances Weiter and her husband, Stephen, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his soulmate, Karen Fontenot Soileau of Ville Platte, Louisiana who captured his heart the moment they met; and his nieces and nephews, Catherine Janie Douglas, Abigail Mae Weiter, Alexandra Boonnark Weiter, and Austin Mack Weiter.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Boonnark Williams, and his father, Michael “Cowboy” Williams.

While Mack’s passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness, his family celebrates a life well lived and a legacy that will continue through the people he loved, the lives he touched, the friendships he nurtured, the kindness he extended, and the stories that will be told for generations..

His professional contributions will be remembered throughout the school nutrition, food distribution, and USDA program communities but throughout the country, his greatest legacy will remain the way he made people feel. Those who knew Mack did not simply remember meeting him; they remembered being welcomed, valued, and loved by him.

Mack’s light shined brightly in this world, and it will continue to shine through every life he touched. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Palestine Baptist Church, located at 59369 Palestine Church Road, Bogalusa, LA 70427. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with the memorial service immediately following at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Robbie Burdeaux.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Mack Williams Scholarship Fund. The fund will support a Louisiana student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in dietetics, nutrition, food science, culinary arts, food service management, or a related field.
