The St Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday (June 17, 2026) that two men died after being pulled from the water at the Lock One Navigational Canal near Pearl River.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the area after receiving reports that two individuals were unresponsive after entering the water near the lock. Family members who were with the men pulled them from the water before deputies arrived. Deputies and emergency medical personnel immediately began life-saving measures. Both men were transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Today (June 18, 2026), St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Christopher Tape reported that the two men have been identified as 67-year-old Richard Robertson of Brandon, MS, and 76-year-old Hugh Parker of Madison, MS, Further, the two perished by drowning and the manner of death was ruled as accidental.
