Sheri Lynn Penton Lindsey
September 27, 1973 - June 11, 2026
Sheri Lynn Penton Lindsey, age 52 and a resident of Richmond, Texas, passed away Thursday night June 11, 2026. She was a native of Washington Parish, born on September 27, 1973. Sheri grew up in Mena, Arkansas before moving with her family to the Houston, Texas area as a teenager.
Sheri spent her life honoring the Lord and serving her family, friends, and community through music. She attended the University of Houston, where she earned her degree in music, and went on to teach piano professionally for over 25 years. During her time in school, she was initiated into the Beta Pi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity, and was a member of the Houston Symphony Chorus. Sheri remained involved with Sigma Alpha Iota for 34 years and was an active member of the Houston Alumnae Chapter. In 2023, she was awarded the Sword of Honor in recognition for her outstanding leadership and service to the chapter. Her favorite part of SAI was building relationships with collegiate chapters and sharing her love for the organization. She spent her last meeting watching her daughter, Megan, become affiliated with the alumnae chapter.
For nearly 10 years, Sheri also served as an accompanist for the Fort Bend Boys Choir. After her son, Tristan, sang in the choir from 2011 to 2013, she joined the organization accompanying the Training Choir in 2016. She loved making music with the choir and continued to attend concerts and volunteer even after stepping away from the accompanist role. She spent every Sunday in church with her family worshipping and praising the Lord. She served faithfully as the pianist for Unity Missionary Baptist Church and Heritage Independent Baptist Church, using her talents to glorify God. Sheri’s gift of music was a blessing to those around her and touched the lives of all who knew her. She loved her students and was deeply committed to the church and Houston fine arts community. Even on difficult days, she remained positive, speaking highly of others and celebrating their accomplishments. She will forever be remembered as a beloved teacher, mentor, and source of inspiration, and her steadfast faith in the Lord will continue to show through her family and those she influenced.
