Leigh Ann Cox Morel
February 19, 1976 - June 26, 2026
Leigh Ann Cox Morel, born on February 19, 1976, was welcomed into eternal peace with Jesus Christ her Savior on June 26, 2026, at the age of 50. With unwavering faith in the goodness of God, Leigh Ann courageously battled cancer for over two years. This strong faith, along with her positive attitude, inspired all who knew her. She was a devoted member of Stoney Point Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught a teen Sunday School class. Leigh Ann loved her Stoney Point Church family, delighting in dinner-on-the-grounds Sundays and relishing any occasion to fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Leigh Ann was always an enthusiastic fan in the stands for Ashleigh, Annsleigh, Russell, and Daniel at their school sporting events. She loved her mom-friend group from BGS and especially enjoyed their travels together, lake days, and camper fellowship at the Washington Parish Fair. Additionally, she loved “Mama Nance’s” delicious Sunday lunches and was always eager for a Bond Christmas seafood gumbo or a spring crawfish boil.
A committed professional educator, Leigh Ann worked many years in the Washington Parish School System, first as a teacher and later as an assistant principal. Her fun teaching style and selfless approach to leadership left an indelible mark on her students and colleagues.
Leigh Ann is survived by her loving husband, David Morel; her four cherished treasures—two daughters: Ashleigh Danielle Morel and Annsleigh Elizabeth Morel, and two nephews: Russell Michael Wilson and Daniel Payton Cox. She also leaves behind her devoted parents, Kinell and Nancy Cox, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who adored her cheerful spirit.
Leigh Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Kyra Cox Wilson; an infant brother, Kyle Cox; and grandparents, Q. D. and Wilkie Bond and Leo and Eloise Cox.
