Houston Hunt

May 12, 1937 - June 23, 2026

Houston Hunt, age 89 and a resident of Pine, passed away Tuesday June 23, 2026 at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital. He was retired after a long career as a pipe welder in the construction industry and later was a truck driver hauling logs and forestry products for several years. Houston was a United States Army veteran during the Korean War era, stationed for a time in Germany. He was a longtime member of Pine First Baptist Church. He always loved fishing and the outdoors. Houston also enjoyed traveling in his motorhome to areas around the south and spending quality time with his family and grandchildren.

Survived by: 5 Children and Spouses: Guy and Delane Hunt, Dody and Keith Dykes, John and Melissa Hunt, Doddie and Chad Brooks all of Franklinton, Donnie and Melody Hunt of Pembroke, GA; Grandchildren and Spouses: Nick and Amanda Hunt, Anna Miler, Aleah and Jarod Jones, Alana and Michael Jones, Ashton Dykes, Shea and Leigha Hunt, Brittany Hunt, David Hunt, Amber Brooks, Nikki Brooks, Dakota Brooks, Chase Hunt, Gage Hunt, Melania Hunt; 22 great-grandchildren and an expected great-grandchild; 5 great-great-grandchildren; Also survived by numerous sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his sons Shane Daniel Hunt, Shannon Spurgeon Hunt, wife Travis Ann Berry Hunt, parents Spurgeon Hunt and Ida Mae Stafford Hunt, grandson Mitch Hunt, great-granddaughter Taylor Miller, 4 brothers and 3 sisters and other family members.

Visitation will be at Pine First Baptist Church (27043 Hwy. 62, Franklinton, LA 70438) on Friday June 26th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Friday with Rev. David Easterling. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery following a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Pine First Baptist Church Youth Fund at the address above.

Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
