Obituary

Helen Jones Mark 

November 17, 1934 — June 22, 2026

On Monday, June 22, 2026, at the age of 91, the Angel of the Lord came and claimed the Soul of one we love so dearly. Helen Jones Mark, was born November 17, 1934, to the late Johnnie Will Jones Sr. and the late Pearlee (Bickham) Jones. She attended and graduated from Wesley Ray High School 

Later, she married the love of her life, Henry Edward Fortenberry, Sr. and to this union eight children were born, 4 girls and 4 boys.  Paulette C Fortenberry, who proceeded her in death, Lawrence (Kathy) Fortenberry, Ray Anthony Fortenberry, who proceeded her in death, Bobby (Robert Irvin) who proceeded her in death, Henry (Gail) Fortenberry, Henrietta (Raymond) Porter, Pearlie F. Mingo, who proceeded her in death, and Debra F. Fortenberry. She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Curtis Jones, Sr., Robert J. Jones, Leroy Jones, Johnnie W Jones, Jr., a step brother Joe R. Jones and four sisters, Ozzie M. Jones-Irvin, Sophia Corine Jones-Dillon, Ruby Clotile Jones-Davis, and Della M Bickham.

Later in life, she married Claudius (Pig) Mark, who proceeded her in death.  She was a member of the Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, La and later joined Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the choir and usher board until her health began to decline.  She was loved by many and she was also an entrepreneur.  She was well known as the fastest bus driver in Sandy Hook and Dexter area, Bus #75.  She loved cooking, helping others and family.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters; Rosa L. Jones-Hargrove, Ruth A Jones-Graham and Sharon A. Jones-Woodard, four brothers; Dr. Bobby D (Rose) Jones, Charles E (Sandy) Jones, Donald (Carolyn) Jones, Sr. and Douglas E. Jones,  a special granddaughter Tanjale (Tonya)  Fortenberry and a special grandson Ar'Jivyar (Tray) Fortenberry, a special sister in law; Sandra Jones, thirty grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, special relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on July 3, 2026 at Cook-Richmond & Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
