Lola Sheets Wimberley
March 4, 1932 - May 16, 2026
Lola Sheets Wimberley passed away at home in Mt. Hermon, Louisiana on May 16, 2026 at the age of 94.
Born in Seattle in 1932, Lola was an adventurous woman, living in California, Illinois, and Oklahoma before meeting Charles Wimberley in San Francisco. While dating, they enjoyed music by the Kingston Trio and visits to the Japanese Tea Garden. They married in Church Point, Louisiana and remained a loving couple for 67 years.
Her hands were her artistic outlet, and over the years she excelled in painting, stitch work, sewing, baking, and quilting. Lola’s breads, pies, and cakes were unequalled, as were the handmade quilts she created.
She and Charles had 4 daughters, Lynn Foret (Paul), Jane Cassisa (Paul), Anne Chenevert (Keith), and Amy Acosta (Manny). She had 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lola may be made to The Salvation Army, https://give.salvationarmyusa.org/ , or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/donate/ .
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on a date to be determined.
E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
