Maryjo Brittell

December 28, 1988 — May 8, 2026

For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. Romans 14:7

Maryjo Brittell departed this life on May 8, 2026 at 1:06pm at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina with her father by her side.

Maryjo was born December 28, 1988 in Lubbock, Texas to the union of Jerome Spurlock and Judith Spurlock. To this union two children were born.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Lakewood Church of Christ in Atlanta, Georgia.

She attended public grade school, Lindley Middle School and Pebblebrook High School in Mableton, Georgia. During her school years, her passion for music which lead her to join her school band and orchestra. Pebblebrook High School competed in battle of band competition where they came in 2nd place.

Maryjo was known for her beautiful spirit, warm smile, compassionate heart, and the love she freely shared with those around her. She worked most of career as a customer service representative.

Maryjo left Georgia in 2020 and relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina in which she lived until her demise. She was a loving, caring and devoted mother of two precious children.

Her memories will live on through her two children, Malayiah and Messiah Tashad; her memories also live on through her loving father, Jerome Spurlock, Sr., of Austell, Georgia; her mother, Judith Spurlock of Lubbock, Texas; three brothers: Scottie Sharod (Shamiah) Bell of Lubbock, Texas, Jerome (Aaliyah) Spurlock, Jr., and Gregory Spurlock, both of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Tatiana Spurlock, and her beloved stepmother, Betty Spurlock both of Lithia Springs, Georgia; three Aunts: Gwendolyn Martin of Texas; Rita Teas of Tennessee and Linda Duncan of Montana. Her memories will also live on through her five uncles, Gregory Spurlock and Darrell Spurlock of Villa Rica, Georgia, Ronald Spurlock of Franklinton, Louisiana; Keith (Michella) Spurlock of Sugar Hill, Georgia; and (5) aunts: Shirlyon Brown of Franklinton, Louisiana; Annetta (Fred) Warren both of Franklinton, Louisiana; Carolyn Spurlock of LaPlace, Louisiana; Emilia (Stephon) Fairley of Poplarville, Mississippi and Tangela Love of Villa Rica, Georgia; and a special Godmother, Ruby Spurlock, a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Odis and Willie Mae Spurlock; one uncle, Alborn Spurlock and one aunt, LaGenda Spurlock. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 11:00AM at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness USA with Eld. Kendrick Brumfield - Officiating. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
