Odell "Jake" Weary

Odell (Jake) Weary was the tenth child born to the union of the late Rossie Weary and Sophia Wood Weary Pigott in Tylertown, Mississippi on November 24, 1947.
Odell attended Holy Family Spiritual Church under the leadership of Rev. Mother Selena M. Holmes, located in Chicago, Illinois.
Odell, everyone called him Jake and most people did not know his name was Odell.
Jake was a kind soul who would help anyone who needed help, and his specialty was working on cars. He worked as a mechanic and car detailing in Chicago on Cicero Avenue. Jake’s tow truck.
He moved back South in the late 1970’s, to Jackson, Mississippi, where he met Marcia Sanders. Jake was employed at the Jackson Brick Factory many years and enjoyed working on Cars in his free time.
Jake enjoyed being with his friends Otis Mingo, Jessie Ray Clayborn Matthew, just to name a few.
Odell (Jake) was preceded in death by his parents, Rossie Weary and Sophia Wood Weary Pigott; one daughter, Jocelyn Weary; a special friend, Marcia V. Sanders; also his siblings, Selena Holmes, L. J. Weary, L. W. Weary, Donis Marks, Elnora Robinson, Altese Holmes, Chance Weary, and Geraldine Marks.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children, Frederick (Deidre) Weary and Calvin Weary both of Georgia, and Rev. Monaty Fourte, Chicago, IL; bonus daughter, Sharon Flowers of Jackson, MS; two grandchildren; one loving sister, Clara Hatcher of Chicago, IL; special nieces, Patricia Mark Nichols, Shawanda Holmes, Lee Mark, Evelyn Weary; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 9:00AM - 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home 809 East 3rd Street, Bogalusa, LA 70427 with Dr. Rev Lindsay Cotton - Pastor Officiating.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
