Patrick Daniel Akery

May 16, 1984 - April 2, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patrick Daniel Akery, who departed this life on April 2, 2026, at the age of 41. Born on May 16, 1984, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Patrick was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend. He resided in Newnan, Georgia, where he built a life characterized by loyalty, love, and devotion.

Patrick was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving five years on active duty and three years in the reserves, earning honors and awards such as the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Award Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, and Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist Pin. His commitment to service included a distinguished role as a security operative for special forces in Washington, D.C., during the George W. Bush administration following the events of September 11, 2001. Notably, Patrick participated in a luncheon with the commanding General of the base, an experience he cherished during his military tenure.

Following his service, Patrick pursued higher education at West Georgia College, where his determination and hard work earned him a place on the Dean's List in 2017. A skilled pharmacy technician, he dedicated his professional life to helping others in the pharmacy industry.

Patrick's enduring love for his daughter, Lilian (Lily) Akery, was unparalleled. He treasured every moment spent with her, embodying the role of a devoted father. He is also survived by his brother, Jason Akery; father, John Akery; mother, Rhunae Guy Bovingdon; stepfather, James Bovingdon.

A man of faith, Patrick was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church until his enlistment in the Navy. Those who knew him will remember his tender heart, sense of humor, and moments of seriousness when needed. He had a passion for cooking and shared his culinary delights with family and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan, with Pastor Luke Suttles officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Road, in Newnan, along with military honors.

In this time of great loss, we invite all who knew and loved Patrick to join us in remembering his life and the impact he had on those around him. He will remain in our hearts forever.

Patrick was preceded in death by his Maternal grandparents, Joe Guy and Billie Ruth Guy. grandmother, Lucille Brown, great-grandmother, Mattie Williamson; and grandfather, John Akery Sr.
