George Gabriel Francke, Jr.

George Gabriel Francke, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Francke, Sr. and Estelle Vautier Francke, his loving wife Patricia Montamat Francke, and his grandson Jayme C. Saunders.
He is survived by his brother Robert E. Francke, Sr., sister-in-law Gayle M. Francke, his daughter Michele R. Certoma and son Christopher E. Francke. His memory will be cherished by his grandson, Jaysen Saunders, nephew Robert Francke, Jr. (Rose), nieces Lauren Moore, Karen Hannnan, great nieces Rachel Sandrock (Tristan), Raegan Francke, Rebecca Francke; great nephews, Sean and Ryan Moore; Conner, Parker and Nicholas Hannan
Born in New Orleans on December 15, 1934, he was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish in Violet until Hurricane Katrina. After which time he relocated to Broussard, LA, and in 2015, moved to the Windsor Senior Living community in Mandeville.
He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana College in 1957 and joined the Louisiana National Guard in June of that year, providing 37 years of military service. He achieved the rank of CW4 and Civil Service rank of GS11. He held various positions throughout his career, culminating in Force Structure, and Unit Readiness Analysis Officer for the final 20 years. Among his many awards were the Army Legion of Merit, Army Achievement Award, LA Cross of Merit of Service and LA Distinguished Services Medal.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 (visitation with family 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.; service 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and reception to follow) at Covington Presbyterian Church located at 222 So. Jefferson Avenue, Covington, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hosanna Lutheran Church, Covington; or Northshore Food Bank, Covington.
Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory in Bogalusa, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
