On March 17, 2026, at approximately 4:15 PM, the Amite City Police Department responded to reports
of gunshots in the 500 block of South Second Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a crime scene with numerous shell casings in the area.
Following a thorough investigation, including the review of witness statements, detectives were able to identify a suspect. An arrest warrant was subsequently obtained for 23-year-old Joshua Patrick of Amite, Louisiana.
On March 18, 2026, Joshua Patrick was taken into custody and charged with the following:
- • Two (2) counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
- • Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- • Illegal Discharge of a Firearm
- • Assault by Drive-By Shooting
- • Three (3) counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
- • Parole Violation

We also appreciate the cooperation of community members who provided critical information that assisted in this investigation."
