Obituary

Sue Brister Causey

September 25, 1944 - February 18, 2026

Sue Causey was born on September 25, 1944, in Walthall County, Mississippi, to the late Claude and Codella Gatlin Brister. She peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at 5:07 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 81.

At an early age, she married T.C. Causey, and this union was blessed with two daughters. Later in life, she married the love of her life, Robert Trudo. Sue was the matriarch of a large and devoted family and also a pillar in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Trudo.; twelve siblings—four sisters and eight brothers; a bonus daughter Felicia Magee.

She received her early education at J.J. Gulledge and later continued her studies in Prentiss, Mississippi. Sue devoted the majority of her professional life to healthcare. She began her career at what she affectionately referred to as “the old hospital.” After its closure, she continued her faithful service at Walthall County General Hospital, where she worked as an Operating Room Technician for 45 dedicated years. Even after retirement, her heart remained steadfast, as she continued caring for the elderly, the sick, and anyone in need of compassion and support.

Sue was a faithful and committed member of Mesa Mt. Olive Baptist Church until her health began to decline. She served diligently in various leadership roles, including President of both the Junior and Senior Usher Boards and President of the Junior Mission. Her service to the church reflected her unwavering faith and dedication to uplifting others.

Her memories will be cherished by her devoted daughters, Chiquita (Johnny) McCray and Sharon (Douglas) Stevenson, both of Tylertown, Mississippi. She was a proud and loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Lakeshia (Jeremy) Williams of Katy, Texas; Brandi (Jasper) Spires of Byram,  Mississippi. Al (Cassandra) Magee of Tylertown, Mississippi; Aliccia (Crystal) Magee of Bogalusa, Louisiana; and Alexandria N. Williams. Her legacy continues through her five treasured great-grandchildren: Ja’Tavious, A’Layjah, Christin, A’Liviyah-Raye, and Summer. She also leaves a very special niece and daughter in love, Sheila Westbrook; three cherished bonus daughters, Blondel Tutwiler, Tarsha Lewis, and Kizzy Lewis; two goddaughters, Yvonne Robinson and Tomeka Brister; six beloved bonus grandchildren and four bonus great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, James (Jas) Quinn of Gulfport, Mississippi; three sisters-in-law, Oretha Brister and Eva Brister of Beaumont, Texas, and Luzine Brister of Detroit, Michigan; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Sue’s life was defined by devotion—devotion to her faith, her family, her profession, and her community. Her strength, grace, and enduring love leave Obituary permanent mark on all who were blessed to know her. Her memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Services will be on February 28, 2026 at Mesa Mt. Olive M. B. Church in Tylertown. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the Service at 12:00 PM. Interment will be at Brister Family Cemetery in Tylertown.
