Beverly Sue Mayor

May 25, 1934 - February 1, 2026

Beverly Sue Mayor, age 91, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at home in Bogalusa, LA, surrounded by family. She was born on May 25, 1934, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Charles L. and Catherine L. (Spangler) Long.

Beverly retired from a long career including Crown Zellerbach box plant and Southern Timber division, as well as multiple stints as a legal secretary for several attorneys in the local area. 

She enjoyed travel, returning to Indiana to visit family, attending Broadway in New Orleans performances, needlecrafts, playing canasta with friends and reading. She loved nothing better than getting lost in a good book. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathi Mayor of Bogalusa and one brother John (Sally) Brandt of Kansas, sister-in-law, Vera Jean Mayor of Bogalusa, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Silas Mayor, Sister and brother-in-law, Francine and John Johnson, brothers William Chandler and Richard Brandt, Mother-in-law Marie M. Newell, brother-in-law Emile Mayor, brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Lennie Mayor, and the Uncle and Aunt who brought her to Bogalusa, Francis “Bud” and Dora (Pepe) Spangler.

Memorial service will be held at a later date at Ponemah Cemetery, date will be forth coming.

Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
