Donald White

June 23, 1943 - February 3, 2026

Donald White entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, Louisiana, at the age of 82. He was born on June 23, 1943, in Liberty, Mississippi.

Donald was the devoted husband of Virginia White for 58 years. He was a loving father to Holly Maines, Jaffin Maines Sr., Carolyn White King, and Felicia Jefferson of Angie, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Callers; his father, Dave White; his brothers, Sidney Anderson, Charles White, Robert White, and Carl White; his sisters, Mary Collins, Vera McWilliams, Nice Daris, and Ethel; and his nephew, Sidney.

He was a devoted grandfather to Jennifer L. White (husband Derrick Mixon Sr.), Tanja Jackson (husband Marvin), and Jaffin Maines Jr. He was also blessed with three great-grandsons: Jeremiah Brant, Derrick Mixon Jr., and Ja’Capi.

He leaves to cherish his memory his nephews Donnie White, Evan White, and Charles White Jr.; his devoted niece Rose Marie Moore and Terry; and his special devoted sister, Delores Ellis.

Donald had a love for car shows with the Zummos and their friends. He began working at a young age delivering groceries in the Metairie area. As a teenager, he worked at a shoe repair shop on Metairie Road, where he learned the trade from Mr. Verrett. Shoe repair became his life’s work for many years until he retired due to illness.

He loved all sports and watching TV Westerns, especially classic cowboy movies. He cherished his many good friends, including K. Bestley and Lionel Perkins. The family extends special thanks to Jayce and Karry Brant for their prayers and hospital visits, and to the Collins family in Mississippi and the Matthew family for their love and support.
