Robert Russell Miller
December 26, 1944 - January 6, 2026
Robert Russell Miller, age 81 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away early Tuesday morning January 6, 2026 at his daughter’s home. Russell served his country during the Vietnam War from 1962 until 1968 and was stationed in countries around the globe, including Japan, Okinawa, Greece and Germany. Following his discharge, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business from Southeastern Louisiana University and then worked for a time at the LSU Department of Entomology, studying and developing row crops for agriculture. Russell later returned to Mount Hermon and began a long career as a dairyman, where he always enjoyed milking and taking care of his cows. After getting out of the dairy business, he worked as a truck driver for Winn-Dixie for 10 years, where he met many good friends, before retiring. Earlier in life, he enjoyed rabbit and squirrel hunting and had a set of beagles and Walker hound dogs that he loved to run. Russell loved listening to his favorite country music records and he could play the guitar, steel guitar, harmonica and other instruments. Many years ago, he taught his children how to play the guitar, something they were always thankful of. Recently, Russell enjoyed watching his favorite cooking TV shows and reading his Bible. He was proud to have read the Bible fully through 12 times in his life and he had a special place in his heart for his pet dogs
