Louis Macalusa, Jr.

Louis Macalusa, Jr., age 77 and a resident of Mount Hermon, La for the past 15 years, passed away on January 18, 2026 at his residence while in the care of his loving wife, Deborah Macalusa. He was born in New Orleans, La on February 27, 1948. A longtime resident of Marrero, La, he was employed by Avondale Shipyard, Westside Fencing, Elmwood Shipyard, and Exceeds Their Needs Inc. of which he retired from in 2010.
He was especially close to those who will remember him by his kindness, humor, unique unwavering integrity, love for his family, and his laughter and gifts to everyone who knew him.
He had a love for outdoors where he grew his fruit trees and vegetable gardens, looking at the many birds, deer, and other beautiful nature God offers.
Survived By: Wife of 27 years: Deborah L. Macalusa; Son: Russell “Rusty” Macalusa and fiancée Jenifer; Daughters: Amanda “Mandy” Macalusa and fiancé Justin, Nicole “Nikki” Macalusa; Grandchildren: Kayla Macalusa, Tyler Macalusa, Travis Macalusa; Great-grandchildren: Clayton, Brently, Raelynn, Annsleigh, Remington, Gracelynn; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his sons Michael Macalusa and Frankie “Bubby” Macalusa, his parents Gladys LeJune Macalusa and Louis Macalusa, Sr., and his sisters Doris “Dot” Macalusa Woods and Joyce Macalusa Crochet.
A special mention of those he was raised with and loved: his sister’s daughters Donna, Pat, Karen, Becky, and the late Faye; Also those who cared for Louis: Sondra, Heather, Savannah, and the team at Compassus.
A private memorial service at God’s House Church in Marrero, La will be scheduled by the family at a later date.
Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
