Obituary

Linda Diane Nunnery

October 22, 1952 - November 26, 2025

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth

Linda, lovingly call by her middle name (Diane) was born on October 22,1952 to the late Rev. Clarence Robinson Sr. and Vergie Lee May Robinson. She was the fourth child of thirteen children.

Diane went to her heavenly Home Thursday November 26, 2025.

Like the rest of us, Diane was born and raised in a Christian home. She was taught about God the Lord and the Bible at an early age by our parents. They made sure that we did not have any excuses for not knowing about the Lord and accepting Him in our life. They also taught us to love, respect, and do good unto others as we would have them do unto us.

During her early childhood, Diane attended St. John Elizabeth Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop John White. Later in her adult life, Diane joined fellowship with the Glorious Church under the leadership of Rev. W.J. Wilson Sr.

Our sister had many talents. Singing was just one of them. She was a member of the Bogalusa High School Chorus under the direction of Mrs. Barbara C Butler. A member of St. John Elizabeth Temple and Glorious Church choirs and the Gospel Soul Seekers, later known as (RGS) The Robinson Gospel Singers.

Diane graduated from Bogalusa High School. She was the first to become a Lumberjack.

After graduating from High School, Diane moved to New Orleans where she worked her first job as a seamstress at a company called Rutter-Rex. Not only did our sister have many talents, but she wore many hats too. After returning to Bogalusa, she worked as an Assistant Manager at Diana Shop (a women’s clothing store) as Salesclerk at, Cato’s Fashion, a food Service Technician in the Bogalusa City School System until her retirement in 2016.

Linda Diane married the love of her life, Roosevelt Nunnery  of New Orleans, La. and to that union one child was born. A beautiful daughter whom they named Keeunta LaJoy Nunnery. When she got married, we never called her Diane again. It was affectionately Nunnery.

Nunnery was a quiet, loving and giving person in her own way. She was the type of person you could count on. Whatever her hands found to do, she did it. Whether it was work, family get togethers, birthdays, she did it with all her might.

Nunnery’s favorite saying was “boy Hush.” It was never a dull moment when she was around. Diane was a fun person to be around. She always meets you with a smile, never a sad face. She always kept you laughing about something she said or done.

We remember one year at our Annual Christmas Party held each year in December at our sister Tina’s home. Nunnery was asked to sing a song. She chose the song Jingle Bells. But when she started singing, she said Jangle Bells, Jangle instead of Jingle Bells. We all had a good laugh, and she had to laugh too because she realized she was saying all the wrong words. It was so funny.

Nunnery was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, and aunt, a friend, a cousin, a church member and so much more.

Yes, we are all going to miss Nunnery dearly, but her memories will always be with us.

Linda Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Clarence and Vergie Lee May Robinson Sr., her grandparents, Monroe and JoAnna Thompson May, her husband, Roosevelt Nunnery, two brothers, Clarence Robinson Jr., Jackie Robinson Sr., one sister, Linda Paulette Bell, one brother-in-law, Walter James and two sisters-in-laws, Melissa Robinson and Charlotte Fox Robinson.
