Janice Varnado Crain
October 26, 1946 - December 30, 2025
Janice Varnado Crain, age 79 and a resident of the Thomas Community, passed away early Tuesday morning December 30, 2025 at her home. She devoted over 30 years of her life working with the Louisiana Department of Family Services in Franklinton. She was known for her strong work ethic, kind spirit and compassion for her clients. Janice was a devoted member of Bible Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her throughout each and every day. Lately, she enjoyed watching her favorite mystery TV shows. Janice will be remembered for her loving heart, strong faith and the deep devotion she had for her family. Her legacy of love will live through all that were blessed to know her.
She was the loving mother to her daughter Sherri Warren and fiancé Mark McCain, and her son Shonn Crain.
Janice was the proud grandmother to her grandchildren Haylie Tackett and her husband Travis, Josh Warren, Lane Warren, and Matt Crain. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren Daniel, Skylar, Saylor, Braylie, Allie and Austin.
Janice is also survived by her brother and sister in law Phillip and Cindy Varnado and a very special friend Bobbie Powers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raiford Varnado and Mildred Goings Varnado, sister Brenda Dykes, grandparents Lloyd and Avie Goings and a great-grandson Kaston Warren.
Visitation will be at Bible Baptist Church (29567 Hwy. 424) on Friday January 2nd from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Friday with Rev. Harold Gaddy and Chris Varnado officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
