Obituary

JoAnn Holmes

January 19, 1958 - November 24, 2025

JoAnn Holmes, a resident of Franklinton, Louisiana, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on November 24, 2025 after a very lengthy illness. She was a member of Pine First Baptist church in Pine Louisiana, and a graduate of Franklinton High School, class of 1976.

After graduation, she worked at Blairs Department Store before marrying her high school sweetheart, Johnny Earl Holmes. She was a dedicated wife to the love of her life, her Johnny, and a devoted mother to her daughter Desireé Estelle Holmes. JoAnn always had such a sweet gentle soul and loved her family and friends with all her heart.

Although she was disabled and homebound for many years, she will be remembered and missed by many friends and classmates that knew and loved her sweet spirit and smile.

After JoAnn could no longer place a phone call by herself to her 94-year-old Mama, her husband faithfully placed the call for her everyday so they could talk to each other. JoAnn loved her family and knew with all her heart that she was loved. She will be missed by all, but our hearts are filled with joy knowing she is in heaven with Jesus and the loved ones that were called home before her.

She is survived by: Her husband of 49 years, Johnny Earl Holmes; Daughter, Desireé Estelle Holmes; Mother, Lillie Tullos Freeman; Sister, Willene Freeman Dickerson; Brothers-in-law, Carroll Holmes, Ray Holmes, Larry James, George Holmes, Daniel Holmes, Wendall Holmes and Joe Pierre; Sisters-in-law, Star Holmes, Lettie Pearl Holmes, Joanne Holmes, Lisa Holmes and Kitty Pierre; And numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins; And as her Mom always told her at the end of their daily conversations: "Don't forget Charlie", her 14-year-old dog
