Marvin E. "Bud" Spencer
August 15, 1953 - November 18, 2025
Marvin E. "Bud" Spencer, age 72 and of Magnolia, MS, departed this world November 18, 2025, for his heavenly home. Bud was born August 15, 1953, in Houma, LA to Floyd W. Spencer, Jr. and Peggy Windham Spencer.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 50 years Elizabeth "Beth" G. Spencer of Magnolia, daughter Erica Myers (Christopher) of Magnolia, Becky Spencer of Osyka, two brothers Bucky Spencer (Anita) of Baton Rouge, LA and Curtis Spencer (Lauren) of Covington, LA, a sister Peggy "Sis" Stevens (Drew) of Franklinton, LA, grandchildren Adelyn McGraw, Isaac Myers, Marcy McGraw, Silas Myers and a host of special nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bud spent most of his life in the Terry's Creek community, serving as a faithful member and deacon of Terry's Creek Baptist Church. He had a true servant's heart, serving in many aspects from House and Grounds committee at the church, to Adult Sunday School leader, or helping anyone in need of anything. You could call asking for help and he would stop and go no matter the need or time. Never afraid of anything, even giving rides to strangers to town. From getting Christmas trees out of attics, to building wheelchair ramps or helping start generators during hurricanes, he was there if you needed him. He made time to visit, listening to those who needed it, touching many lives, never knowing the full weight of his influence. Spent his childhood growing up on farms across Louisiana acquiring a special gift of caring for and working with animals. Well known by many for his long-time occupation in hoof trimming beef, dairy and show cattle. Managing cattle in numerous ways and a love for horses. Gardening was a favorite hobby, growing vegetables and sharing it with everyone was what he loved. Being outside working hard was who he was. Loved to make a daily task list, accomplishing whatever was in front of him for the day, often sidetracked to go help someone. No challenge was too big and "I can't wasn't an option". Anyone who knew him knew he was genuine, never sugar coating anything, getting straight to the point. He did not waste time on misunderstandings. No fluff or frills was him. He never filtered his opinions or thoughts. His beliefs, he stood firm on. Proud of his family and always there for them. Humor was medicine, often telling funny stories, pranks and jokes he pulled on others. Bud was dearly loved by his family, friends and community. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Terry's Creek Baptist Church from 12:30 PM until services at 2:00 PM. Randy Reynolds and Bro. Kent Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
