Jesse Louis Dean
December 7, 1940 - November 5, 2025
Jesse Louis Dean, age 84 and of Kentwood, Louisiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Osyka, Mississippi, on December 7, 1940, to the late S.E. and Mary Pope Dean, Jesse was a faithful servant of the Lord, devoted husband, loving father, and PawPaw.
He worked as a conductor for Canadian National Railroad for 42 years, dairyman, served his country in the National Guard, and served as a deacon of his church for 50 years. Jesse was known for his generosity and his love of family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Majel Hunt Dean; his children, Jennifer Hayes (Steve) of Mandeville and Jason Dean (Larissa); his grandchildren, Delanie Dean Fortenberry (Colby) and Dylan Dean (Claire); his great-grandson, Bentley Fortenberry, and sister, Theresa Dean Cutrer, all of Osyka. He was preceded in death by his parents, S.E. and Mary Pope Dean, sister Patsy Benefield, brothers-in-law Walter Benefield and Sambo Cutrer, and nephew Sammy Cutrer.
Services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Line Creek Baptist Church in Kentwood. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Line Creek Cemetery under the direction of McKneely Funeral Home.
