Jimmy Tate

February 11, 1958 - October 31, 2025

II Timothy 4: 7-8  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Elder Jimmy Tate was born February 11, 1958, to the late Carnell Warren Tate and Winzlo Tate, Sr. Elder Jimmy transitioned into eternal life on October 31,2025, at Good Samaritan Living Center.

He was the first born of seven of seven children. Elder Jimmy graduated from Franklinton High School in 1977. He joined Hayes Creek MBC at an early age under the leadership of the late L.W. Bolton, Sr. He later joined Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Apostle John W. Jones, Sr., where he later accepted his calling into the ministry becoming Elder Jimmy Tate. He was currently under the leadership of Pastor Speady Ross at New and Living Way in Kentwood, LA.

Elder Jimmy Tate worked for DFA (Dairy Farmers of America) for 30+ years, retiring in 2007. Later, he went back to work at Smitty’s Supply for 16 years, retiring in 2023. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on small engines, doing home repairs etc. “Jack of all trades”. He was always offering a helping hand to others.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 44 years, Nettie B. Tate; one daughter, Makeisa C. Tate-Dyson and one son, Jimmy L. (Tracy) Tate both of Franklinton, LA; four grandchildren, Amiryon Michelle and Amazin Le’Chelle Dyson, LaGrian (Duke) Bell and Daylin Latroy Tate; three God children Jasmine L. Bickham, Fredrick O. Magee, Jr. and Kierra R. Johnson; two brothers, Alton Tate of Franklinton, La and Winzlo (Tanya) Tate of Slidell, LA; two sisters, Edith (Kenneth Sr.) Warren and Kathy Walker, of Franklinton, LA; a mother-in-law, Dorothy L. Bickham; the many children they fostered throughout the years; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Denise Tate-Bickham; a brother, Cedric Tate; a brother-in-law, Wallace Walker; a sister-in-law, Janice Hart; and his father-in-law, James N. Bickham.

The visitation will be at Greater Hayes Missionary Baptist Church Saturday, November 8, 2025, 10:00am. The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
