Linda Jenkins Whaley
January 20, 1947 - November 25, 2025
Linda Jenkins Whaley (known as Ma Lin) was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on January 20, 1947 in Bogalusa, LA, Linda’s journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on November 25, 2025, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, surrounded by her family. Her life was a testament to kindness, selflessness and a heart of servitude.
Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Whaley, and her daughters and their spouses, whom she loved as sons: Jackie and Edgar Jenkins of Franklinton and Wendy and Michael Young of Independence. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren and their spouses: Trey and Abby Jenkins, Tyler and Malloree Jenkins, Tanner and Kelsey Jenkins, Trevor and Sciana Jenkins, all of Franklinton, and Andrew and Sarah Young, Jordan Young, Wrileigh Young all of Independence, as well as 10 great-grandchildren: Liam, Wyatt, Hadleigh, Jovi, Jack, Riaf, Tucker, Reid, and Emmett Jenkins, and Parker Young. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers and a sister in law: Kenneth Ray Jenkins and Ricky and Brenda Jenkins; her sister and brother in law Debbie and David Williams; and her brothers in law and sisters in law: Adney and Carolyn Whaley, Loyd and Cherie Whaley, Don and Vicky Whaley, Tim and Angela Whaley, Raymond and Janie Whaley, Bobby and Kim Whaley.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Talmadge Jenkins and Elouise Rester Jenkins, her brothers, Jimmy, Wayne, and Galmarie Jenkins, her father in law and mother in law Amos and Duette Whaley, and her brother in law Joe Whaley.
A celebration of her memory will be held at Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday November 29th. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm Saturday with Bro. Trey Jenkins and Bro. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will take place in the Whaley Family Cemetery near her home. Pallbearers are Trey Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Tanner Jenkins, Trevor Jenkins, Andrew Young, Liam Jenkins.
As we honor her memory, may we strive to embody her values, serving selflessly and facing each day with determination and compassion. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light, inspiring us to make the world a better place, just as she did.
