Obituary

Artimeze Letha Miley

August 12, 1931 - November 19, 2025

Artimeze Miley departed this life at age 94 years on November 19, 2025, less than a mile from where she was born on August 12, 1931.

Artimeze’s life journey took her along various roadways, life experiences, and both professional and personal relationships.

As an adult she returned to school twice, once as a young mother to become an LPN and secondly to Beauty School. As an LPN she worked at Charity Hospital where people remembered her compassion and willingness to help. After retiring from nursing, she opened a beauty shop where she made lasting friendships.

She journeyed through three marriages. After each one she learned that she had strengths and that she was resilient. She was thankful for the experiences that she gained and so proud of the children that God gave her in her marriages.

Artimeze had a fiery passionate love for her family. Children can recall how she would stay up all night to sew up a new shirt that could be worn to school the next morning. She was that kind of mama who was willing to make sacrifices for her children. She showed her love for her grandchildren when she attempted to teach them how to play the piano, how to crochet, how to draw pictures, how to sing, and how to just have fun!

Artimeze was proud to have been born in Miley Town and her heart was always wrapped up in the land that she inherited. Through thick and thin she held onto that land. She did not always live there, but her heart brought her back to live there where she spent the remainder of her years.

Her relationship with God began as a child when she realized that she was a Child of God. As a young adult she became a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. Later she attended various churches where her brother, Howard, preached. She greatly enjoyed playing the piano at those churches.

Survivors include two children and spouses: Rodney V. Miley Jr. (Marsha) and Andrea Pounds (Joe): a daughter-in-law, Patsy Owens: grandchildren: Steve (Margot) and Brent (Pam) Owens; Rod, Ryan (Karen), and Reid Miley; Brittany (Eric) and Morgan Pounds; great grandchildren: Savannah (Brennan) Barrack and MacKenzie, Hunter, and Hayden Owens; Eli, Evan, Emily, and Ethan Miley; Axel and Zayden Escher and Rylan and Brayson Taylor: great-great grandchildren: Bentley, Aiden, Liam, and Eli Owens; Eden Barrack and Sawyer Owens: and a sister, Earline Watts.
