Ralph Dewaine Harris, Sr

March 16, 1940 - October 31, 2025

Ralph Dewaine Harris, Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 31, 2025.  Ralph was born March 16, 1940 in Pearl River, Louisiana to the late parents Lamar C. “Braud” Harris and Beulah E. Miley and was a long-time resident of Angie, LA.  He was a member of Angie Baptist Church.  Ralph started out as a professional painter and worked in the surrounding areas for over 15 years and then went into the dairy business, retiring only to start dabbling in beef cattle.  Ralph’s passion was his garden and sharing his produce with the community, family and friends.  He loved the outdoors, watching his LSU Tigers play ball and enjoyed spending time on his tractor.  In his early years he received the nickname “Outlaw.”

Ralph is survived by his wife, Patsy Jean Slade Harris of 63 years.  His son Dewaine Ralph Harris, Jr. (Tara) of Cutoff, LA and his daughter Rashann Deandra Harris of Angie.  Ralph had one granddaughter Holly Kristina Harris Merchant (Anthony) of Metairie, LA; two step-grandsons:  Ben Holbert (Hannah) of Cutoff, Brock Holbert of California. Ralph was blessed with a great granddaughter Monroe of Metairie & three step great grandsons.Additionally, he is survived by one sister in law, Barbara Harris Adams, and many nieces and nephews.  

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul Harris and Alan Ray Harris; two sisters Bobbie Hymel Jenkins and Patricia Duncan; nephews Walter Hymel, Jr. and Charlie Harris; niece’s Karen Harris Cancienne and Barbara Hymel Ruddick.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 0900 - 1200 at Angie Baptist Church and the funeral will begin at 1200 and Brother Larry Mizell will be officiating the services.  Burial will be in the Angie Cemetery at Angie, LA.  

Pallbearers will be Cole Fornea, Byron Stogner, Stephen Fornea, Reggie Kennedy, Calvin Hymel, and Greg Slade.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Elude Williams, Bobby Baughman, Gilbert Hartzog, Mark Pittman, John Dawsey, and Mike Williams.    

Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
