Tropical Disturbances Today

Disturbance 1.  Tropical Storm Jerry is no threat to our area. Jerry is located about 355 miles ESE of the Northern Leeward Islands moving WNW at 20 MPH with maximum sustained winds of 65 MPH. On the forecast track, the center of Jerry is expected to pass near or to the northeast of the northern Leeward Islands later today and tonight. Interests there and the British and U.S. Virgin Islands should monitor the progress of Jerry.

Disturbance 2.  North Atlantic (AL96): A gale-force non-tropical area of low pressure located several hundred miles to the west-northwest of the Azores is producing limited shower activity near its center. Some subtropical or tropical development of this system is possible over the next day or two before it moves over even cooler waters and into a stronger shear environment. Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent and formation chance through 7 days...low...10 percent.
