District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on October 22, 2025, a St. Tammany Parish grand jury returned indictments in three unrelated matters.
- The grand jury indicted 17-year-old Lionel Mack and 17-year-old Traveon Elbert, both of Slidell, on charges of Second Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Obstruction of Justice. The charges relate to the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Todd Anthony Grant Jr. on July 24, 2025. Detective Shawn Chopin with the Slidell Police Department headed the investigation. Assistant District Attorney Ronald Gracianette presented the case to the grand jury. Mack and Elbert are set for arraignment before Judge William H. Burris on October 29, 2025.

- The grand jury indicted 58-year-old Michael Day of Vancleave, Mississippi, on charges of First Degree Rape of a Child Under the Age of Thirteen and Failure to Register as a Convicted Sex Offender. The alleged offenses occurred between February 1, 2024 and April 21, 2024. Detective Katie Ragan with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office headed the investigation. Assistant District Attorney Ysonde Boland, Chief of the Special Victims Unit of the District Attorney’s Office, presented the case to the grand jury. Day is set for arraignment before Judge Richard Swartz on November 17, 2025.
- The grand jury indicted 40-year-old Connie Estes of Slidell on charges of Hit-and-Run Driving Resulting in Death and Obstruction of justice. The charges relate to the death of 6-year-old Jeremiah Ramirez on August 13, 2025. Detective Katie Robbins with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office headed the investigation. Assistant District Attorney Doug Freese, Chief of the Criminal Division, and Assistant District Attorney Caroline Barkerding presented the case to the grand jury. Estes is set for arraignment before Judge Alan Black on November 5, 2025.
