Kris Short
June 3, 1978 - October 13, 2025
Kris Short, age 47 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away early Monday morning October 13, 2025 at his home. He was born June 3, 1978 in Baton Rouge and later attended Loranger High School before attending technical college. Kris worked for many years as a security officer for Forte Security at locations throughout the area. He liked to work with his hands including mechanic work and fixing things. Kris grew exceptionally close with his grandmother while living with her during his early years. He cherished all the time he spent with his grandchildren and family.
Survived by: Wife: April Rome of Franklinton; Children: Christopher “CJ” Rome; Grandchildren: Anthony Rome, October Rome; Mother and Step-Father: Marjorie and Jimmy Seal of Amite; Father and Step-Mother: James and Linda Willis of Watson; Siblings and Spouses: Megan and Amanda Willis of Watson, Kathy and Brett Lanier of Robert, Jason Toney of Gulfport; Nephews and a Niece: Elijah Lanier, Bradley Bell, Davin Bell, Kennedy Martin
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristen Rome, brother Kendell Willis, grandmother Myrtle Courtney, grandfather Willie Ray Short, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Willis and other family members
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Friday October 17th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday. Burial will follow in the Arcola/Roseland Cemetery.
