July 13, 1943 - October 1, 2025
Jimmie Dale Ervin, age 82, was born on July 13, 1943 and passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ouida Vince Ervin; siblings, J.W. Ervin, Charles Richard Ervin, Peggy Fortenberry, and brother-in-law, Louie Fortenberry.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Tim (Melissa) Ervin; stepson and devoted caregiver, Billy King; sister, Renet (Larry) Tullos, sister-in-law, Carolyn Ervin; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved great-great nephew and niece, Watson Foreman and Rollins Foreman, who brought him immense joy.
Jimmie spent much of his career working at Borden Milk Company in Franklinton, LA, and Jackson, MS, and later at Jackson Packing Company. In his retirement, many came to know him as “the peanut man,” faithfully selling boiled peanuts and produce by the roadside. More than just a way to pass time, he found joy in meeting people from all walks of life.
Above all, Jimmie will be remembered for his warm spirit and the simple joys he found in everyday life.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Carson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Sandy Hook, MS on October 09, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
