Obituary

Edwin C. Nicholson

April 15, 1938 - October 5, 2025

Edwin C. Nicholson of Independence, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 5, 2025, after a long period of declining health.

Born on April 15, 1938, in Bellefontaine, Mississippi. Ed lived a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. A faithful servant of his Savior, Jesus Christ, he found joy and peace in God’s creations, spending countless hours farming, fishing, hunting, and tinkering around his property.

Ed was the proud owner of Ed Nicholson Pest Control for many years and was known for his honesty, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand to others.

He is survived by his son, Charles Nicholson and wife Lisa of Celina, Tennessee; daughter, Beverly Vallee and husband David of Amite, Louisiana; granddaughter, Alyce Friloux Johnson and husband Josh of Franklinton, Louisiana; and great-granddaughters, Braelyn and Jaylee Johnson, also of Franklinton.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Rebecca “Becky” Nicholson; his parents, Sullivan and Myrtle Nicholson; brothers, Willie F., Curtis L., James C., Tommy C., Robert E., and Joe M.; and sisters, Dorothy Connor and Jeannette Stringer.

A memorial service celebrating Ed’s life will be held at McKneely Funeral Home in Amite, Louisiana, on October 20, 2025, at 12 p.m., with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a living plant or a donation to your favorite charity would be a meaningful tribute.

Ed’s legacy of faith, family, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.
