Teen in Critical Condition After Shooting in Hammond

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) needs the public’s help gathering information about a shooting on Monday (September 29, 2025) in Hammond that has left a teen fighting for his life.

On Monday afternoon, TPSO received a call about shots being fired between two cars in the 13000 block of Miley Niquiporo Road. Shortly after, a call came in about shots being fired at a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 1064 and Rufus Bankston Road.

Initially, in both cases, no injuries were reported. However, just before 4 p.m., an 18-year-old male was brought into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. That victim remains in critical condition at this time.

While deputies are actively working several leads in this investigation, they are hoping the public can help us identify and locate a vehicle and individual believed to be associated with this case. The vehicle, as seen in the attached picture, is a newer model VW four-door sedan. The driver was a young, white male.

Sheriff Gerald Sticker encourages anyone with information about any of these incidents, which are believed to be connected, to contact the Criminal Investigations Office at 985-902-2088. If you’d prefer to share information anonymously, you can do so through Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa’s tip line at 1-800-554-5245 or visit www.tangicrimestoppers.com and click on the P3 Tips icon or Submit A Tip!
