Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Duncan Magee

February 18, 1947 - September 9, 2025

Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Duncan Magee, age 78 and a resident of the Thomas Community, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday September 9, 2025 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA, surrounded by her family and after a lengthy illness of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Libby, as she was known, was an active member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed cooking for church functions and the sick, especially her Egg Custard Pies. Libby loved people and was a kind, caring and compassionate person who loved to do for others.

She was a beautician for 50 years. During this time, she also worked at Wesley Ray Elementary School as a teacher’s aide, Riverside Medical Center as a nurse’s aide, and with Family Medical Clinic, Dr. Gerald Foret, Dr. Libeau Berthelot, Dr. Mark James, for 20 years. Libby and her husband, Linus, owned and operated the family business, Magee’s Appliance Repair, for 35 years.

She is survived by: Husband of 58 years, her high school sweetheart: Linus L. Magee; Daughter: Daphne Phelps; Son and Daughter in law: Kyle and Samantha Magee; 3 Grandsons and a Spouse: Jacob Phelps, Jordan and McKayla Phelps, Lucas Magee; 2 Great-granddaughters: Kloie and Klaire Phelps; Sister and Brother in law: Jan and Reed Riley; Brother in law: Bolivar Magee; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

She was preceded in death by her son in law Timothy Phelps, father and mother Horace Duncan and Hilda Pittman Duncan, sister Debra Duncan Lee, father in law and mother in law Lat and Hilda Magee, brothers in law Hollis Magee, Dennis Magee, niece Mallory Magee and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday September 11th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am on Friday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Eld. Duane Ball and Eld. Don Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek.

Pallbearers are grandsons Jacob Phelps, Jordan Phelps, Lucas Magee and nephews Brad Lee, Clint Lee, Matthew Magee

Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Lawrence Creek Ladies Sunday School Class
