Evelyn Riggs Corkern
August 21, 1931 - September 8, 2025
Evelyn Riggs Corkern, age 94 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Monday morning September 8, 2025 at Good Samaritan Living Center. She was born on August 21, 1931 in Perryville, TN, a small town located on the beautiful banks of the Tennessee River. This is where she would grow up and raise her two children. Evelyn later moved to Franklinton, where she met and married her late husband, Doyle M. Corkern. Many in Franklinton knew her from the many years she worked, until retirement, at Thrifty Drug Store. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she shared her love for cooking and baking, especially pies. Evelyn also enjoyed cooking large holiday meals for her family. Her hobbies were taking care of her plants and lovely flowers, but her true joy was shopping for the “best deal”. She would window shop and browse the clearance racks for hours on end.
